not thrilled about his pedigree but he's nice to look at (although his front pasterns seem very slopey). No huge gaps in his race record. He seems to be sound and clean legged.

8 phalaris to 24 NON-phalaris, she has Samya who is Nimbus/Elf/Upas/Dollar and Tourbillion who is also Upas/Dollar. I also like Forli.

I'm not much on mares but this girl looks like she might be super athletic and a great mover.

Look how low her hocks are! She looks level, good shoulder, good pasterns, good feet. I like her a lot.

***Skipingandadancing: 5 yrs, 16.2 h, bay, TB, gelding

THIS HORSE IS AT Suffolk Downs Racetrack in East Boston, MA.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/skipingandadancing

The CANTER listing has his name as "Skipandadancin" but it wasn't found on pedigreequery.com. Luckily they mentioned his sire, Skip Trial. I looked up his progeny and found "Skipingandadancing." I'm assuming that it's him!

I like the looks of this guy. Although, I'm a sucker for a plain as plain bay. With some groceries, this guy will be a looker. The only thing that catches my eye is his chest/shoulder area. Is his humerous a bit flat? Not a big deal.

top side pretty good!

Pedigree info says he was vanned off on 9/10. I'm not sure if that's the 'knee soreness' the listing talks about or not. Beware!

she's got lots of Bold Ruler so maybe she'll really eat up XC!

First of all this mare needs a new name! Secondly, she looks similar to Bay Miner who I really like. She does sound like she might be strong and difficult. The one thing I love about mare is if you can win them over, they are champions!

ribot-pleasant colony, prince john
George seems worth going to see!

Cooper Cooper: 8 yrs, 17.2 h, bay, TB, gelding

THIS HORSE IS IN GASTONIA, NC.
He's a Roanoke baby!
Cooper's a big guy who will probably look quite nice when fit. His pasterns seeem a tad bit short for my liking, but, what do I know?
Owner said he has a tendon injury when training and never raced. Owner is his breeder so he brought him home and turned him out. He's done nothing for 4 years.

Lorna Gail Jones: 4 yrs, 16 h, bay, TB, mare

http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-219149

http://www.pedigreequery.com/lorna+gail+jones

THIS HORSE IS IN ELTON, LA.

Her pedigree is nothing great and neither is that picture...but there's something there. Just a gut feeling. She needs some groceries! Someone go get her!

ps. I emailed the guy but haven't heard back.

Galway Coast: 4 yrs, 16 h, bay, TB, gelding

THIS HORSE IS NEAR THE LONE STAR PARK RACE TRACK, TX
Galway is a nice mannered gelding with a light racing career. He came back a little off from his last race and owners have too many racehorses and decided to not continue with him. Since he has been off of the track he has not been sore or lame. He is a nice horse with a good and willing temperment. He has been ridden in a stock saddle and is willing to learn a new life style. He is a very nice mover and I think he might make a good career in the dressage world, and would definitely make a good riding horse. Handsome horse too! Located at a farm near Lone Star Park. Asking $1700 or best offer. Please contact Shannon Sharp at (972)832-0139 or email shannonsharp@yahoo.com

In my opinion LOPE horses are way overpriced. What's up with that? This dude was the only guy on the site that was a decent prospect at a decent price. Humpf.

Passion For Roses: 4 yrs, 16.3 h, bay, TB, mare

THIS HORSE IS AT HOOSIER PARK RACE TRACK, IN

For those mare lovers out there:

Look at that lightening bolt on her forehead? That's the cutest thing I've ever seen!
Her pedigree isn't fabulous but I still think she's a cutie.

Incrediblee: 8 yrs, 16.2 h, bay, TB, gelding

THIS HORSE IS AT THE HOOSIER PARK RACE TRACK, IN.

buckpasser, hoist the flag, wild risk, turn-to, grey soveriegn
He's a little older but I like the looks of him. His eye is a bit freaky though-lots of white.

Relic is found in lots of WB pedigrees. His dam also produced Blue Larkspur. Decent pedigree.

He looks like a POWER HOUSE!!

He's a bit more expensive listing at $3,000, but track prices always seem to be negotiable (bring CASH) and he might be worth spending a bit more.

Houghton Regrets: 8 yrs, 16.2 h, bay, TB, gelding

THIS HORSE IS AT THE CHARLESTOWN RACE TRACK, WV.

Yeah, he's a little older, but he's a dude! He's a winner on the grass, decent pedigree and he's just so stately and British looking (I love all things British). He looks like a classic hunt horse-like you should paint a portrait of him and hang it in the den.

Meadow Bee, 3 yrs, 15.3, bay, TB, gelding

Wild Risk and Turn-To lines, Swaps-all good.

Typically, pedigree gurus don't like to see Mr. Prospector and really don't like to see him more than once. I, personally, love Fappiano horses. They are very commonly good looking horses.

For example, his little girl is a Fappiano gbaby. Cute as a button, but a short mare isn't the best resale:

The use of CANTER photos is strictly prohibited, so I respect that and not post thier pictures on this blog. Just click on the link to see the horse! It'll be worth a look!

Oh, another thing about CANTER listings, make sure you have SOMEONE verify the horse's basic facts before you buy sight unseen. I went to WV to see one advertised as 15.3 who ended up being 14.2.

Turn-To line is great, hunters look for Alydar

Electrify, 6 yrs, 16 h, chestnut, TB, gelding

Electrify is at New Vocations in Marysville, OH. Make sure you check out their adoption contract before you fall in love.

PROS: I like that he's won so much ($666,890); he'll be gritty and bold. Great pedigree! Won at distance, so shouldn't have a problem lasting XC!
CONS: Suspensory injury, cribber

Blog Intro:Eureka!

Finding young, well bred, good looking horses is an addiction of mine. Finding one is like washing off a dirt encrusted gold nugget! This blog is to help my fellow equestrians find inexpensive prospects they can brush the dirt off of and take to the show arena!

I am NOT an expert. I'm still learning about what makes up a good pedigree. I'm still learning about what conformational details make a good mover and jumper. You may or may not agree with my amateur opinion. I'm just sharing my finds, plain and simple. Take it leave it :) If you have some helpful info about the horse, please comment!

Happy Prospecting,
Megan
